CESOP error 10040
“Wrong CorrMessageRefID”
Partly caught before you file
What it means
The CorrMessageRefId in MessageSpec does not name a message that can be corrected. It must carry the MessageRefId of the earlier message this one corrects.
Why files get it
- CorrMessageRefId set to this message's own MessageRefId.
- A reference to a message that was never received, or was fully rejected.
How to fix it
- Put the MessageRefId of the original message in CorrMessageRefId, and a new reference in MessageRefId.
Check a file for 10040 before you submit
The free validator runs the CESOP business rules against your file and names the error each finding would become — 10040 included — so the Validation Result is not where you first hear about it.
The file is parsed in your browser tab. No upload, no account.
